How Do I Make Early or Extra Payments?

Last Updated June 8, 2023

You can make a one-time payment from your Member Center, by check, or over the phone.

Unless you specify otherwise, one-time payments go toward your current monthly payment first, and any additional amount beyond that goes toward your principal balance. So if you’ve already made your full monthly payment before your due date, additional payments are “principal-only” payments.

Keep in mind that if you make early payments that don’t fully cover your next upcoming payment amount, you’ll still be responsible for your full monthly payment. If you’re on autopay, your full monthly amount will still be withdrawn from your linked account as scheduled.

If your account is on track and you want an extra payment to go toward the principal immediately, you can indicate that when you make the payment. You can also fully prepay your obligation anytime. If you choose to pay off your account early, you won’t owe any more interest, and your monthly payments will end. Take note that some payment options might not be available for these principal and payoff payments.

Pay online

  1. Sign into your Member Center.

  2. Click View Loan, then Make a Payment.

  3. Under Payment Type, select Principal only.

  4. Enter the amount you want to pay and click Next. If you need to change the amount, click the back arrow and enter a new amount.

  5. Review your payment details, then click Pay Now. You’ll see a "Success!" message once the payment is complete.

Note: The review page shows the payment amount, date, bank name, and the last four digits of your bank account. It also tells you the earliest date your payment can be processed. Once you click Pay Now, you can’t go back or change the payment amount.

Pay by check

If you want to make a principal-only payment by check, you can send us your check payment by postal or courier mail. Make your check payable to "LendingClub Bank" and write your name (if it's not on your check) and account ID on your check, along with the letters "AP" so we know to apply the funds as an extra payment. For example: AP #123456789 Jane Well.

Mail your check to one of these addresses:

  • Postal mail:

    LendingClub Bank
    Lockbox Services - 134268
    P.O. Box 884268
    Los Angeles, CA 90088-4268

  • Courier mail:

    Lockbox Services - #0134268
    LendingClub Bank
